Costa Rica Update!

No... unfortunately it's not me giving the update from the balmy shores of Costa Rica...
Just thought I'd let you in on what the happy honeymooners are up to.

Hi Everyone,

Greetings from Costa Rica! Just wanted to send you guys an update on how things are going! We´re about to leave Montezuma and may not have internet for a couple of days. We´ve had a really enjoyable weekend! Friday we took a tour to Tortuga Island. The boat ride was really nice - about 45 minutes long. We ran across a pod of dolphins coming back from their night hunt, and they were really excited, jumping and spinning for us...so pretty! When we got there, they anchored the boat a little ways from the shore and let us go snorkeling around a small rock island. The fish there were gorgeous - no reef, but some really pretty parrot fish, angel fish, puffer fish, some striped eels, and many other fish I don´t know the names of. There were several schools of fish that were a blast to swim through! Finally after doing that for a while, we went to the island for lunch and to enjoy the sand. It´s a beautiful island, but very crowded with tourists, so we were happy to leave when we did. The snorkeling was definately the best part!

Friday afternoon we payed for an ATV so that on Sabbath we could pick it up and travel up the coast a ways. That turned out to be really nice as we got away from all the people and found some very secluded stretches of pristine beach. It was a great way to spend Sabbath! We drove through the countryside some as well, and there were great views, as well as some animals we got to see - deer, iguanas, etc. That trip turned out to be a good scouting trip also, because we got to see the area up north further and decided to spend a few days there today and tomorrow. There is a secluded beach area called Playa Cayote that is supposed to be exceptional because it´s not good for surfing (therefore is quiet and more pristine), so we´re anxious to check it out.

Sunday, because we couldn´t rent a car, we took the bus to Cabo Blanco national park. It´s mostly a reserve where people aren´t allowed, but there´s one 4km trail that goes through the rain forest and dry forest to get to the beach. That was a really nice break from the hot sun and sunburns that we´re currently sustaining. LOL The forest was beautiful, and we got to see some more animals too - funny red squirrels, different birds, butterflies, and howler monkies - those were the cutest! So yeah, we really enjoyed that.

So we´re off to Playa Cayote tonight. Then tomorrow night we head to San Jose to go white water rafting, and then from there down south to Drake Bay where we´ll hit another famous, but little visited national park for several days, as well as do some scuba diving. We´re looking forward to that!
